The technology
What is 2D Machine Control?
2D machine control uses sensors mounted on the machine — typically on the boom, stick, and bucket of an excavator — to calculate the real-time position of the cutting edge relative to a target depth or slope. The operator sees a clear, easy-to-read display in the cab showing exactly how far they are from grade.
Unlike GPS-based 3D systems, 2D control doesn't require satellite positioning or a digital terrain model. It's the ideal solution for straightforward excavation, trenching, pond digging, and slope work where a target depth or angle is all you need.
